Who we are
My name is Chancellur Dixon, and I’m currently a graduating senior majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Audio Production from New Haven, Connecticut, at Hampton University. Throughout my tenure, I have developed a passion for working in broadcasting and media, which has allowed me to enhance my knowledge of the entertainment industry. This knowledge will also help me pursue my passion to be a professional musician. I have played various musical instruments throughout the fourteen years I have been developing my love for music, but my primary instrument is the trombone. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to tour with DRUMLine Live, Hollywood’s Grammy award-winning HBCU-styled marching band. We also had the exciting opportunity to perform with Travis Scott during halftime at the College Football Playoff National Championship.
I’ve done various extracurricular activities outside of The Hampton University Marching Force. I joined various clubs/organizations on campus, such as the Audio Collegiate Engineering Program (A.C.E.), my school’s weekly newscast (WHOTV), and my school’s talk show (RAWTV), while playing in events with multiple ensembles around campus. In The Hampton University Marching Force, I joined the Morale Committee and the Recruitment Team, organized trombone section fanfares/performances, actively participated in recruiting potential high school students for the band, and am currently the trombone section leader.
